Azerbaijan

Mining has a long history in Azerbaijan dating back to the 6th century BC. The country has significant mineral resources, including gold, silver, copper, iron, lead, zinc, and oil. As early as the 8th century AD, Azerbaijan was known for its iron and copper mining, and in the 19th century, a gold rush brought foreign investors to the region.

During the Soviet era, Azerbaijan's mining industry was further developed with the establishment of large-scale mines and industrial complexes. The country became a major producer of oil and natural gas, and mining of non-ferrous metals such as copper and zinc also increased. Since gaining independence in 1991, Azerbaijan has continued to invest in its mining industry, with new technologies and techniques being implemented to increase extraction rates and reduce the environmental impact of mining activities.
