Greenland

Greenland has a relatively short mining history, with exploration only beginning in the 19th century. The first modern mining activity took place in the 1970s when a zinc-lead mine was opened in the eastern part of the country. However, this mine was short-lived and closed in the 1980s due to a lack of economic viability. Since then, other mining activities in Greenland have mainly focused on prospecting and exploration for various minerals, including gold, rare earth elements, diamonds, copper, and iron.

In recent years, Greenland's mining sector has gained more attention, and the government has become more open to foreign investment and mining operations. However, the development of mining projects in Greenland faces significant challenges due to the country's extreme climate, limited infrastructure, and environmental concerns. Nevertheless, the potential wealth of the natural resources in Greenland's vast landmass and its strategic location may attract significant investment and interest in the future.
