Guinea-Bissau

Guinea-Bissau has a relatively limited mining history, with few large-scale operations. Bauxite mines were operated in the 1960s and 1970s, but were closed due to conflict and political instability. There have also been small-scale operations for gold, diamonds, and phosphate, but these have been primarily informal and often illegal.
