Professional Mining Analysis, News & Education related to Singapore.
Singapore is a small island city-state located in Southeast Asia. Due to its size and lack of natural resources, Singapore has never been known for its mining industry. However, there have been some small-scale mining activities that took place in the past.
In the early 20th century, there were tin mining operations in Singapore that were run by British companies. The tin was extracted from alluvial deposits along the rivers in the island. The industry was profitable until the 1920s when the price of tin dropped and the tin deposits were exhausted. After that, the mining industry in Singapore ceased to exist. Today, Singapore's economy is driven by other industries such as finance, technology, and tourism.
