Australian Vanadium Ltd (ASX:AVL) is a vanadium development company focused on advancing its flagship Australian Vanadium Project, located in Western Australia. AVL is looking to develop a large scale, open pit vanadium mine and processing operation to produce premium quality vanadium pentoxide for global steel and emerging vanadium flow battery markets.
The Australian Vanadium Project hosts a world-class vanadium resource, with the project boasting a 25+ year mine life based on reserve tonnage of 30.9Mt at 1.09% V2O5. The project has completed a Bankable Feasibility Study which demonstrated strong financial metrics, including an pre-tax NPV of US$1.1 billion and forecast cash costs of US$4.74/lb V2O5 placing it in the bottom quartile of the vanadium cost curve.
Mining and processing will be based on simple, proven methods aimed at reducing project development risk. The project will involve open pit mining followed by crushing, milling and atmospheric leaching to produce vanadium in solution.
Located in a strategic part of Western Australia, the project benefits from access to excellent infrastructure including gas, rail, and port facilities. AVL is currently advancing funding strategies for the project, with the aim of bringing it into production to provide a secure and independent source of vanadium supply to global markets.
