BlueScope Steel Limited is a global steel manufacturing company that produces flat steel products including hot rolled coil, plate, cold rolled coil, and metallic coated and painted steel products. Headquartered in Melbourne, Australia, BlueScope operates an integrated steel mill at Port Kembla in New South Wales and has a global manufacturing footprint spanning Australia, New Zealand, Asia and North America.
BlueScope is focused on the building and construction industry, manufacturing core commodity steel products as well as higher value-added coated, painted and engineered steel building products. Its flagship COLORBOND® steel brand holds leading market positions in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
For the 2023 financial year, BlueScope reported underlying earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) of A$1.61 billion. Australian steel products business accounted for A$537 million of EBIT while North Star BlueScope Steel in North America contributed A$443 million. The company maintains a strong balance sheet with A$703 million of net cash at the end of June 2023.
