Colonial Coal International Corp. (TSX-V:CAD) is a Canadian exploration and development company focused on coking coal projects in northeast British Columbia. The company has a 100% interest in two early-stage metallurgical coal projects, the Huguenot Project and the Flatbed Project, both located in the Peace River Coalfield.
The Huguenot Project contains measured and indicated surface mineable coal resources of 132 million tonnes, and another 145.7 million tonnes of underground mineable coal resources. The project is amenable to both open pit and underground mining methods. The Flatbed Project hosts the Gordon Creek Deposit which contains 298 million tonnes of inferred underground mineable coal resources. Both projects contain premium hard coking coal and high quality pulverized coal injection coal similar to coal that has historically been exported from the region to steel mills in Asia.
The Huguenot and Flatbed projects are located in a well-established coal mining region with access to extensive infrastructure including highways, rail, power and water. The projects are in close proximity to multiple past and present coal producers and several advanced-stage development projects. The northeast British Columbia area has seen significant merger and acquisition activity in recent years as Asian steelmakers have acquired coal assets to secure supply.
