Harmony Gold Mining Company Limited (JSE:HAR, NYSE:HMY) is a gold mining and exploration company. Headquartered in Randfontein, South Africa, Harmony operates nine underground mines and one open-pit mine in South Africa, as well as an open-pit mine in Papua New Guinea.
Harmony has over 73 years of gold mining experience in South Africa and almost two decades of operating experience in Papua New Guinea. As of June 2023, the company had gold mineral resources of 137.8 million ounces, placing Harmony among the top 10 global gold companies by resources. It also had gold mineral reserves of 39.3 million ounces.
In the financial year 2023, Harmony produced 1.47 million ounces of gold. The company is South Africa's largest gold producer by volume. Harmony also has a growing exposure to copper through its Hidden Valley mine in Papua New Guinea, the Eva Copper project in Australia, and an interest in the Wafi-Golpu copper-gold project in Papua New Guinea.
