KGHM Polska Miedź S.A. is a Polish copper and silver producer listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange. The company is focused on copper mining and production, with assets located primarily in Poland as well as Chile, the United States and Canada. KGHM is one of the world’s largest copper producers and the second-largest global silver producer.
KGHM’s main production facilities are its three underground copper mines in Poland - Lubin, Polkowice-Sieroszowice and Rudna - which have been in operation for over 50 years. The company also operates two copper smelters and refineries in Poland. Additionally, KGHM holds a 55% interest in Sierra Gorda, an open-pit copper and molybdenum mine in Chile.
In 2022, KGHM’s mined copper production totaled 557,000 tonnes. The company aims to maintain current production levels in Poland through its Deep Głogów deposit access project involving the sinking of four new mine shafts. KGHM is also advancing the Victoria nickel-copper project in Canada and owns a number of earlier-stage exploration projects.
With its well-established operations and extensive resource base, KGHM Polska Miedź plays an important role in copper and silver supply globally. The company continues working to extend the life of its mines and ensure long-term growth while its development projects also provide avenues to increase future metals production.
