MC Mining Limited is a mining company focused on the exploration, development, and operation of high-quality coking and thermal coal assets in South Africa. MC Mining is primarily interested in metallurgical coal, specifically hard coking coal (HCC) and semi-soft coking coal (SSCC). The company has tenements located across the Limpopo, Mpumalanga and KwaZulu-Natal provinces.
MC Mining’s portfolio includes the Uitkomst metallurgical and thermal coal mine currently in production, the advanced Makhado HCC project, the SSCC Vele Colliery which was recently recommissioned, and the early-stage Greater Soutpansberg exploration projects (GSP) containing over 1 billion tonnes of coking and thermal coal resources.
The Makhado Project is MC Mining’s flagship development asset, which holds regulatory approvals and surface rights to develop a large-scale opencast operation. Makhado has 344 million tonnes of mineable coal reserves and is expected to produce around 4 million tonnes per annum of coking and thermal coal products over a 28-year life of mine.
MC Mining aims to become the premier producer of hard coking coal in South Africa through developing Makhado in addition to its producing Vele Collieryand cash-generative Uitkomst Colliery.
