Orca Energy Group Inc. is a natural gas producer and distributor focused on the Songo Songo gas field located offshore Tanzania. The company operates and has a 35-year production sharing agreement over the Songo Songo license which has supplied over 530 billion cubic feet (BCF) of gas to Tanzania. Orca sells gas to power generators and industrial customers in Dar es Salaam with a pipeline it owns and operates.
Orca Energy is currently in the production stage, supplying 45% of the natural gas used for power generation in Tanzania in 2022. The company has long-term gas sales agreements in place and an active work program focused on low-cost development opportunities to maintain and potentially increase production capacity at Songo Songo. Initiatives include field compression and well workovers along with exploration of prospective resources.
As a cash-generative business with a strong balance sheet, Orca Energy’s strategy is to reinvest free cash flow into low-risk, high-return development activities at Songo Songo with a reported revenue of $118.1m in 2022, and a $6.5m return to shareholders. Orca is focused on the significant opportunity to meet growth in Tanzanian natural gas demand over the decade ahead.
With 18 years experience as operator, Orca Energy employs a local Tanzanian workforce and plays an important role supplying clean, affordable energy to support national growth and transition away from alternative fuels like charcoal and diesel. Orca is committed to sustainable development and shares value with partners TPDC and the Government of Tanzania via tax, employment, and community investment.
