Global Atomic Reassures Investors: Niger's Mining Permit Suspension Doesn't Impact Dasa Uranium Project

Global Atomic (TSX: GLO) clarifies Niger mining permit suspension, advances Dasa uranium project, renews exploration permits, and benefits from zinc JV cash flow.

  • Global Atomic clarifies that Niger's suspension of new mining permits does not impact its Dasa uranium mine
  • The Dasa mine is fully permitted and Global Atomic has received verbal renewal of key exploration permits
  • Mine excavation at Dasa began in Q1 2022 with yellowcake delivery to utilities expected to commence in 2026
  • Global Atomic also owns 49% of the BST zinc recycling joint venture in Turkey that produces high-grade zinc oxide
  • For investors, Global Atomic offers exposure to rising uranium and zinc prices through near-term production assets

About Global Atomic

Global Atomic is a publicly traded company (TSX: GLO, OTCQX: GLATF, FRANKFURT: G12) with a unique combination of a high-grade uranium development project and cash-flowing zinc production. The company's flagship asset is the Dasa uranium project in Niger, which was discovered by Global Atomic geologists in 2010 and is fully permitted for commercial production. Global Atomic also owns a 49% stake in the Befesa Silvermet Turkey (BST) zinc recycling facility in Iskenderun, Turkey.

Dasa Uranium Project Update

Global Atomic provided an important clarification for investors regarding Niger's recent suspension of new mining permits. This suspension was enacted by the government to address concerns around artisanal gold mining and does not impact Global Atomic's Dasa uranium mine or any other uranium projects in the country.

The Dasa Mining Permit was granted at the end of 2020 and is not under review. Additionally, Global Atomic has received verbal confirmation of the renewal of exploration permits for the Adrar Emoles 3 (AE3) property where the Dasa mine is located. Renewal of permits for the Tin Negoran areas are also expected shortly.

The Dasa Project is advancing well, with mine excavation having commenced in Q1 2022 following the filing of the Phase 1 Feasibility Study in December 2021. The study envisions yellowcake delivery to utilities beginning in 2026. As a large, high-grade, and fully permitted uranium asset in a top mining jurisdiction, Dasa is well positioned to help meet rising uranium demand as the world increasingly turns to nuclear energy.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Global Atomic offers investors an attractive mix of exposure to the uranium and zinc markets through assets that are advanced and substantially de-risked. The company's flagship Dasa uranium project is fully permitted and expects to enter production in 2026, well-timed to benefit from the rising uranium prices many analysts are forecasting as nuclear energy sees a resurgence. Meanwhile, the BST zinc joint venture provides cash flow and leverage to strong zinc fundamentals.

With the recent clarification that its Dasa mine is unaffected by Niger's suspension of new permits and the receipt of key exploration license renewals, Global Atomic is well-positioned to continue advancing the project. The company has a strong management team with a track record of success in both uranium and zinc.

For investors bullish on the future of nuclear energy, Global Atomic is a company to watch. As with any pre-production mining company, there are risks, but Global Atomic has substantially advanced and de-risked its key assets.
