Omai Gold Deploys Sixth Drill Rig to Test BBH Gold Target Near Gilt Deposit in Guyana

Omai Gold is mobilising a sixth drill rig in Guyana to test the BBH target west of Gilt, while five rigs continue drilling at the Wenot deposit.

  • A sixth diamond drill is being mobilised to the Omai Gold Project in Guyana to focus on exploration targets.
  • An initial 5,000-metre programme will begin with eight holes at the BBH target, west of the Gilt deposit.
  • BBH extends along a trend of approximately 600 metres defined by trenching, shallow drilling and historical data.
  • Late 2025 drilling returned 20.33 grams per tonne gold over 5.3 metres, including 35.61 g/t over 3.0 metres, at a vertical depth of 50 metres.
  • Five rigs continue infill and expansion drilling at Wenot under a 50,000-metre programme.

Omai Gold Mines Corp. (TSXV:OMG) is a Canada-based gold exploration and development company advancing its wholly owned Omai Gold Project in Guyana, South America. The project hosts two orogenic gold deposits (deposits formed during ancient mountain-building events): the Wenot open pit deposit and the adjacent Gilt underground deposit, both located within the Guiana Shield. Omai is a former producing mine with existing infrastructure, including a cleared site, an on-site airstrip, a tailings facility, known metallurgy and road connections to Georgetown and Linden, Guyana’s two largest cities.

Sixth Drill Rig to Begin With Eight-Hole BBH Programme

Omai Gold is mobilising a sixth diamond drill to the project site to test exploration targets. The rig will carry out an initial 5,000-metre programme, starting with an eight-hole campaign at the BBH target located west of the Gilt deposit.

The exploration targets were identified using geophysics (surveys that measure physical properties of the ground to detect buried structures), trenching and, in some cases, previous drilling. Several areas near the Gilt and Wenot deposits contain gold occurrences, and some untested geophysical anomalies show signatures similar to those of the main deposits. Work to date has centred on Wenot, where early drilling success led to rapid resource growth through successive estimates and a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA).

President and CEO Elaine Ellingham said:

“Additional near surface deposits could further enhance the economics of the project with higher grade, early mill feed. The team has been anxious to drill some of these additional gold targets and with the PEA completed we can bring this forward as one of our priorities.”

BBH Target Defined by Trenching and Drilling Along 600-Metre Trend

BBH is a broad target area extending approximately 600 metres along strike (the length of a mineralised trend at surface). In several areas, trenching exposed flat-lying or gently dipping veins hosted in saprolite, a soft, deeply weathered rock found near surface. These are interpreted as ladder veins, a series of stacked veins spanning between two northeast-trending structures, similar to the rungs of a ladder.

At Trench OTR-03, on the western end of BBH, 14 samples were collected, with six assaying (laboratory testing for gold content) between 1 and 3 g/t gold, one at 8.35 g/t and three above 15 g/t, including one at 24.3 g/t. At Trench OTR-02, 300 metres to the east, all 11 samples assayed above 1.5 g/t, with the highest at 21.3 g/t. The 2022 trenching also exposed old underground workings, estimated to date from around 1948, where the narrow veins can be traced from saprolite into fresh rock.

Company drilling in 2021 intersected 1.7 g/t gold over 7.5 metres and 3.15 g/t over 3.0 metres in hole 21ODD-019, while a nearby historical hole returned 2.14 g/t over 9.0 metres. In late 2025, seven widely spaced holes tested the 600-metre trend, with all but one intersecting gold. Hole 131 returned 20.33 g/t over 5.3 metres, including 35.61 g/t over 3.0 metres, at a vertical depth of 50 metres.

Wenot Drilling Continues Following PEA

Five diamond rigs are carrying out infill and expansion drilling at Wenot as part of a 50,000-metre programme. Infill drilling places holes closer together to improve confidence in an existing resource, while expansion drilling tests areas beyond the current resource boundaries.

The PEA, announced on August 19, 2026, outlines a mine plan to produce 6.3 million ounces of gold over an 18-year mine life, with average production of 351,000 ounces per year. At a base case gold price of $3,600 per ounce, the study supports a net asset value of $4.0 billion at a 5% discount rate, which represents the estimated present-day value of the project’s future cash flows.

The PEA is based on a resource of 2.5 million ounces in the Indicated category at an average grade of 2.04 g/t gold in 38.1 million tonnes, and 5.5 million ounces in the Inferred category at 1.59 g/t gold in 106.6 million tonnes. Indicated resources carry a higher level of geological confidence than Inferred resources.

Milestones and Next Steps

The supporting technical report for the PEA, dated October 2, 2026 and prepared by SLR Consulting (Canada) Ltd., has been filed on SEDAR+. Upcoming work includes completing the BBH campaign with the goal of identifying a new near-surface gold deposit, followed by drilling programmes now being planned on additional exploration targets across the property.
