Corsa Coal Corp. is a metallurgical coal production and processing company focused on the Northern Appalachia coal region in Pennsylvania and Maryland. The company produces premium low-volatile metallurgical coal, serving domestic steel producers and international customers.
Corsa operates three underground mines and three surface mines which feed up to 4 million clean tons per year of metallurgical coal processing capacity. The company’s infrastructure includes preparation plants, rail loadouts, and refuse disposal facilities. In 2022, Corsa sold nearly 1 million tons of metallurgical coal that was 86% company-produced.
Corsa’s growth strategy focuses on organic replacement of depleted mines together with incremental production growth. Two key projects are the fully permitted A Seam mine with 6.4 million tons of proven reserves and is expected to produce 600,000 clean tons/year, and the Keyser Deep mine which has 8.3 million tons of proven and probable reserves and anticipated production of 570,000 clean tons per year.
The company had a market capitalization of $53 million as of October 2023. Corsa Coal aims to benefit from supportive long-term domestic and global demand for high-quality metallurgical coal. Corsa’s strategic location and logistics capabilities serve an addressable regional demand from coke batteries of approximately 15 million tons per year of which roughly 4 million is comparable low-volatile met coal.
