Drilling Builds Upon G2 Goldfield's Million Ounce, High-Grade Gold Discovery in Guyana

G2 Goldfields expanding high-grade 1.2Moz gold discovery in Guyana; 80K drilling done in 2023, updated resource estimate coming Q1 2024 with higher grades targeted from depth extensions.
- G2 Goldfields is exploring and developing a high-grade gold discovery in Guyana, with an initial 1.2 million ounce resource at 9 g/t
- They are drilling to expand the resource and make new discoveries along a 20km strike length
- An updated resource estimate is expected in Q1 2024, with higher average grades being targeted at depth
- Exceptionally high-grade "jewelry box" intercepts are nice but not representative of the whole system
- The key is to demonstrate continuity and mining width of the mineralization
Expanding a High-Grade Gold Discovery in Guyana
G2 Goldfields is focused on expanding its initial high-grade gold discovery at the OKO project in Guyana's Cuyuni region. With one million ounces already delineated, drilling is underway to grow the resource and make additional discoveries across the 20km strike length.
The OKO Main Zone currently hosts an inferred resource of 1.2 million ounces at a standout grade of 9 g/t gold. Importantly, drilling has encountered even higher grades at depth. CEO Dan Noone explained, “As we drill deeper and we're targeting the higher grade, the average grade of the quartz veining was 22 g/t." An updated resource estimate incorporating these results will be released in Q1 2024.
Noone cautioned that while exceptionally high-grade “jewelry box” intercepts generate headlines, consistency and continuity of mineralization is paramount. As he stated, "You need mining width and you need continuity." The focus remains on expanding the known zones of economic mineralization. Still, hitting the occasional bonanza grade zone can provide a nice boost, as Noone noted they will “certainly fall into the resource as expanding things."
With five drill rigs turning at OKO, resource expansion drilling is targeting depth extensions of the Main Zone's high-grade shoots. Another rig tests near-surface targets at the emerging Ganny Zone. Meanwhile, regional exploration drilling is ongoing across 20km of prospective strike length, seeking to uncover the next big discovery. As Noone summarized, "The discoveries are what adds value always has in the mining industry and so that's our Focus."
The Investment Thesis for G2 Goldfields
G2 Goldfields offers exposure to:
- Expanding high-grade gold resources in a mining-friendly jurisdiction with district-scale upside
- Significant near-term resource growth potential and ongoing exploration upside
- Future development potential into a high-margin underground gold mining operation
The actionable advice is to consider building an exposure now while the resource is still early stage, allowing investors to ride substantial growth from resource drilling and new discoveries.
With 80,000 meters of drilling completed this year, an updated resource estimate imminent and extensive ongoing exploration, investors can expect a significant news flow in 2024. The consistently high gold grades should command premium valuations as resources grow to critical mass. The project's profile appears suited to underground mining scenarios which can deliver solid investment returns.
