Golden Arrow Resources: Exploring Copper and More in Chile

Golden Arrow Resources is advancing the San Pietro copper project in Chile's prolific Coastal Copper Belt. With new interpretations and discoveries, the experienced team is systematically exploring the large land package neighboring major mines.
- Golden Arrow Resources acquired the San Pietro copper project in Chile after winning a bidding process. They have reinterpreted historical data and identified new targets.
- The initial drill program at San Pietro was expanded from 2,500m to over 4,000m as they found new mineralization in areas never tested before. More drilling is planned.
- The project has potential for copper, cobalt, gold, and other metals. They are getting interest from unexpected companies like car and battery companies interested in the cobalt.
- The large size of the land package (185 sq km) means it will take a lot of drilling to fully explore it. Nearby projects have 100,000+ meters of drilling.
- The goal is to get attention of a major mining company to buy them out or invest, as they've done successfully before with their Chinchillas silver project. The location next to operating mines helps attract interest.
About Golden Arrow Resources
Golden Arrow Resources is a junior mining company that has been operating in South America for over 25 years as part of the Grosso Group. The company has an impressive track record, with four major discoveries including a uranium deposit and the Chinchillas silver project, which was sold to SSR Mining in 2018. This successful exit provided Golden Arrow with capital to acquire new projects, leading them to the San Pietro copper project in Chile.
Interview with Brian McEwen, VP Exploration of Golden Arrow Resources
San Pietro Copper Project
The San Pietro project covers over 185 sq km in the prolific Coastal Copper Belt of Chile. The project was previously explored by Sumitomo, which left behind a database of over 34,000 meters of drilling in 83 holes. After acquiring San Pietro, Golden Arrow's team went back and re-logged much of the core and conducted extensive surface mapping. This led them to a new interpretation of the copper mineralization on the property.
In the first phase of drilling at San Pietro, Golden Arrow tested their new ideas with several holes in multiple target areas. The bulk of the holes targeted the Rincones zone, where they appear to have hit significant mineralization that was never previously identified by Sumitomo. As VP of Exploration Brian McEwen stated, "We’re finding new mineralization as that's typical to iocs that is in some of the other deposits around there like candelarian in different areas that had never been noticed before."
The company is now designing the next stage of drilling at San Pietro. They can choose to continue testing and expanding resources or work towards delineating an initial resource estimate. Previous drilling by Sumitomo outlined a deposit in the Rincones zone that Golden Arrow believes can be substantially improved upon through their updated interpretation.
Surrounding Mines Offer Potential Synergies
An advantage of San Pietro is its proximity to two large operating copper mines. To the east is the Santa Domingo project and to the west is Manto Verde, which is currently undergoing an expansion. Golden Arrow believes their extensive deposit could provide a low-cost source of oxide feed to these hungry neighbors. The infrastructure from the operating mines also benefits San Pietro with nearby roads, power, desalination, and an available workforce.
More than Copper
In addition to copper, Golden Arrow has encountered significant cobalt mineralization at San Pietro. Brian McEwen notes that "our Cobalt numbers are spectacular” and believes this has garnered interest from companies in the battery supply chain. The company has also been approached by mining and technical companies looking for cobalt exposure.
Funding Exploration
Golden Arrow has carefully budgeted their exploration program at San Pietro to make the best use of current funds. They completed an expanded 3,500 meter first phase drill program and are financed for additional follow up. The company can also draw on its portfolio of projects in Argentina for potential joint ventures or asset sales if needed to raise additional capital.
Conclusion
Golden Arrow Resources offers investors exposure to a large and underexplored copper project located in a prime jurisdiction. Their experienced team has already substantially improved on the historical interpretation of San Pietro, encountering thick intervals of new mineralization. With funding in place for further drilling, Golden Arrow is poised to systematically advance the project. The potential for synergies with neighboring mines also provides a clear path to production for San Pietro. Interest from major companies for offtake or an acquisition would be a major catalyst for Golden Arrow’s share price, rewarding early investors.
