AMEX Gold Mining Finishes Blasting Phase of Perron Portal Construction

AMEX completes drill and blast work for the Perron bulk sample portal in Quebec, advancing the project toward underground ramp development and its planned bulk sample program.
- AMEX Gold Mining has completed all drill and blast activities for the bulk sample portal at Perron
- Excavation of the blasted material is now underway by the portal contractor
- The underground mining contractor is expected on site shortly to install ground support before ramp development begins
- The completed portal will provide access for the planned 40,000 tonne bulk sample program
- The portal and related infrastructure are expected to become part of a future commercial mine, subject to permitting
AMEX Gold Mining Inc. (TSXV: AMX) (FSE: MX0) (OTCQX: AMXEF) is a Canada-based gold exploration and development company. It holds a 100% interest in the Perron Gold Project, roughly 110 kilometres north of Rouyn-Noranda in Quebec, where it has identified high-grade gold along with copper-rich volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) zones, a type of mineral deposit formed from ancient underwater hot springs. The Perron claims cover 65.72 square kilometres, and together with the neighbouring Perron West, Abbotsford and Hepburn properties in Ontario, the company's total land holdings span 570.94 square kilometres. The project has year round road access, a nearby airport, and is located close to the Town of Normétal and several gold processing plants.
Portal Blasting Completed at Perron
AMEX has finished all drilling and blasting required to build the bulk sample portal at Perron, an underground entrance that provides access for future mining work. The company describes the portal as the first stage in a broader plan to develop underground access at the site.
Once complete, the portal will connect the surface to underground workings and support the planned 40,000 tonne bulk sample program, a large-scale test extraction used to assess how the deposit performs ahead of a potential mine build. AMEX also expects the portal and its surrounding infrastructure to be incorporated into a future commercial mine, subject to receiving the required permits.
With blasting complete, the physical layout of the portal has been established, allowing construction to proceed to the next phase.
Underground Ramp Development to Follow Excavation and Ground Support Installation
Following the completion of blasting, the portal contractor has begun excavating the blasted rock to clear the opening. AMEX's underground mining contractor is expected to mobilize to site in the coming days to install ground support, structural reinforcement that stabilizes the portal for workers and equipment.
Once ground support is in place, the company expects underground ramp development to begin, the sloped tunnel that will serve as the main route into the deposit. AMEX describes this as another significant milestone in advancing the project toward bulk sample extraction.
Victor Cantore, President and Chief Executive Officer of AMEX Gold Mining, said:
"This is another defining milestone for the Perron Project. The successful completion of the portal blasting activities marks an important step toward underground development. We look forward to commencing ramp development in the near term as we continue to safely and responsibly advance the Perron Project toward bulk sample extraction."
Bulk Sample Program Designed to Generate Geological, Geotechnical, Metallurgical and Operational Data
The underground access created by the portal is intended to support AMEX's planned 40,000 tonne bulk sample program at Perron. The program is designed to collect several types of data: geological information on the distribution of gold underground, geotechnical data on ground conditions, metallurgical results on how the ore responds to processing, and operational data from running underground equipment at the site.
This information is intended to validate the high-grade nature of the Perron deposit and support the company's future development decisions. A bulk sample provides data from underground conditions directly, in addition to results already obtained through surface drilling.
Development of the underground ramp is expected to proceed under AMEX's approved plans, with the company stating that safety, environmental stewardship and community engagement will remain priorities throughout construction.
Milestones and Next Steps
Completion of the portal blasting activities marks the first major construction milestone at Perron. Excavation of the blasted material is underway, and ground support installation is expected to follow once the underground contractor mobilizes to site. The next step is the start of underground ramp development, which AMEX expects to begin in the near term. The company has stated it will continue to provide updates as construction progresses toward the planned bulk sample program.
