Kodiak Copper Advances MPD Project With Expanded Metallurgical Testing

New programme targets copper and gold recovery across six deposits, with results expected in Q1 2026 to support resource definition work.

  • Kodiak Copper has commenced an expanded metallurgical testing programme for its MPD copper-gold project in Southern British Columbia, building on initial results from Q2 2025.
  • The programme will analyse composite samples from six deposits and mineralised zones at MPD: Gate, Man, Dillard, West, Adit and South.
  • Testing will focus on copper and gold recovery through flotation process optimisation and gold characterisation studies.
  • Results are expected in Q1 2026 and will support mineral resource definition work and future development planning.
  • JDS Energy and Mining Inc. will manage the programme, with laboratory work conducted at BaseMet Laboratory in Kamloops.

Kodiak Copper Corp. (TSX-V: KDK, OTCQB: KDKCF, Frankfurt: 5DD1) is an exploration company focused on copper porphyry projects in Canada and the United States. The company's primary asset is the MPD copper-gold porphyry project in British Columbia's Quesnel Terrane. Kodiak was founded by Chris Taylor and is part of Discovery Group led by John Robins. The company also holds the Mohave copper-molybdenum-silver porphyry project in Arizona.

Metallurgical Testwork Programme Initiation for Six MPD Deposits

Kodiak has commenced a metallurgical testing programme for the MPD project, building on maiden test results received in Q2 2025. The programme will include composite samples from six deposits and mineralised zones: Gate, Man, Dillard, West, Adit and South. The testwork will focus on enhancing recoveries for both copper and gold through gold characterisation studies and the optimisation of rougher and cleaner flotation processes. JDS Energy and Mining Inc., an international mining consultancy, will manage the programme, with laboratory work conducted at BaseMet in Kamloops under the supervision of JDS Senior Metallurgist Tad Crowie, P.Eng, an independent Qualified Person as defined by National Instrument 43-101.

The programme covers multiple zones across the MPD property. Testing composite samples from each zone will provide data on how material from different areas responds to processing. This information is relevant for mine planning and economic assessments as different zones within porphyry systems can exhibit varying metallurgical responses.

President and CEO Claudia Tornquist stated:

"We are pleased to initiate the next round of metallurgical testwork, an important de-risking step as we advance our MPD project. The programme will build on the positive metallurgical results received thus far and is designed to optimise the recovery of both copper and gold, aiming to unlock further potential to enhance the project's Resource estimation and future economic prospects."

Focus on Copper and Gold Recovery Optimisation Through Flotation Studies

The programme will examine rougher and cleaner flotation processes, which are sequential stages in mineral separation that concentrate valuable metals. Flotation is the standard method for separating minerals from waste rock in copper-gold porphyry deposits. The testwork aims to enhance recovery rates for both copper and gold.

Gold characterisation studies are included because gold can occur in multiple forms within porphyry deposits, requiring different processing approaches for recovery. The studies will identify the nature of gold mineralisation at MPD and inform processing strategies. Recovery rates affect the amount of metal extracted from each tonne of ore processed.

The testwork addresses both copper and gold recovery at the MPD copper-gold system. Results from these studies will provide technical data for future economic assessments and processing performance expectations.

Looking Ahead

The metallurgical testing programme is scheduled for completion in Q1 2026. Results will support the company's mineral resource definition work, which is planned for 2025. The testwork will provide data on copper and gold recovery rates at MPD. As Kodiak continues work on the project, the metallurgical programme forms part of the technical validation and resource development activities.
