Lifezone Metals Hires Capital Markets Veteran to Broaden Its Shareholder Base for Kabanga
Lifezone Metals appoints Ken Chernin to lead investor relations & capital markets as Kabanga Nickel Project financing advances.
Lifezone Metals appointed Ken Chernin as Senior Vice President of Investor Relations and Capital Markets on October 19, 2026. Chernin brings more than 20 years of capital markets and investor relations experience, spanning sell-side equity research, in-house investor relations roles at listed companies, and advisory work for junior mining companies. Management says his experience and relationships across the North American mining finance community will help broaden the shareholder base as financing for the Kabanga Nickel Project advances.
Company Overview
Lifezone Metals (NYSE: LZM) focuses on cleaner, more responsible metals production and recycling through its proprietary Hydromet Technology, which the company says can offer lower energy consumption, lower emissions, and lower-cost metals production than traditional smelting. Its flagship Kabanga Nickel Project in Tanzania is being developed alongside this technology to unlock a new source of nickel, copper, and cobalt for global battery metals markets while supporting in-country beneficiation for Tanzania. Through a US-based recycling partnership, the company is also working towards applying the same technology to recover platinum, palladium, and rhodium from responsibly sourced spent automotive catalytic converters, supporting a circular economy for precious metals.
Investor Relations Experience Across Mining, Retail & Research
Chernin joins Lifezone Metals from Parr Capital Advisors, the investor relations and capital markets advisory firm he founded in 2019, where he advised junior mining companies on investor relations, capital markets strategy, financing, and corporate development. He most recently has also served as interim President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Gold Resources.
At IAMGOLD Corporation, a dual-listed gold producer, Chernin was Vice President of Investor Relations & Communication and worked alongside the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer on quarterly reporting, investor targeting, and shareholder engagement. Before IAMGOLD, he was Head of Investor Relations at Empire Company Limited, one of Canada's largest food retailers, where he restructured the investor relations program.
Earlier in his career, Chernin spent almost a decade in sell-side equity research at Jennings Capital, Beacon Securities, and BMO Capital Markets, covering industrial metals, minor minerals, and junior resource companies. He began his career in financial markets risk management at Manulife Asset Management and is based in Toronto. His industrial-metals coverage overlaps with Kabanga's commodity mix, which includes copper and cobalt alongside nickel.
A Role Aligned With Kabanga's Financing Phase
Lifezone Metals is advancing financing for the Kabanga Nickel Project, and Chernin's mandate covers both investor relations and capital markets. Chernin is targeting a broader US investor audience for Kabanga now that Lifezone Metals is listed on the New York Stock Exchange, as the project advances toward development and supports Tanzania's goal of in-country beneficiation.
Chief Executive Officer of Lifezone Metals, Chris Showalter, tied the appointment to the financing phase:
"As we advance financing for the Kabanga Nickel Project, Ken's experience and relationships across the North American mining finance community will be important in broadening our shareholder base and communicating the Lifezone Metals story to our stakeholders."
Chernin framed Kabanga's position against the current US supply focus:
"Kabanga is a rare asset: one of the world's largest and highest-grade development-ready nickel sulfide deposits, with copper and cobalt alongside nickel, at a time when the United States is prioritizing new, secure and responsibly sourced supply of critical minerals."
