Northern Superior Delivers Strong Drill Results at Philibert Gold Project

High-grade intersections demonstrate resource expansion potential beyond current conceptual pit boundaries
- Resource expansion opportunity confirmed with high-grade intersections outside current conceptual pit boundaries, including exceptional grades of 101.0 grams per tonne gold over 1.0 metre
- Near-surface gold discovered just 4.7 metres from surface supports cost-effective open-pit mining potential
- Broad zones of continuous mineralisation identified, with one intersection extending 65.0 metres demonstrating deposit scale
- Multiple high-grade zones intersected across 750-metre strike length indicate substantial growth potential beyond existing resource estimates
- Follow-up drilling programme planned to increase resource ounces and evaluate potential underground mining component
Northern Superior Resources Inc. (TSXV: SUP) is a gold exploration company with a strategic focus on the Chibougamau Camp in Québec, Canada. The company has assembled a substantial land position exceeding 68,000 hectares across seven primary properties: Philibert, Hazeur, Lac Surprise, Chevrier, Croteau, Monster Lake East, and Monster Lake West. The company's flagship Philibert Project contains established mineral resources totalling approximately 1.99 million ounces of gold across indicated and inferred categories.
Northern Superior maintains a 75% ownership stake in Philibert through a joint venture with SOQUEM, with an option to acquire full ownership. The project's proximity to IAMGOLD Corporation's Nelligan development, located 9 kilometres away, positions it within an active gold camp.
Significant Drill Results at Philibert
The latest drilling results from Northern Superior's 20,000-metre expansion campaign at Philibert have returned intersections across multiple zones. The programme focused on testing the Corsac Fox Hanging Wall zones over a 750-metre strike length where historical drill density was low, revealing significant potential for resource expansion.
Drill hole PB-25-490 stands out as a highlight, intersecting 11.99 g/t Au over 9.1 metres, including an exceptional 101.0 g/t Au over 1.0 metre. This intersection occurred approximately 80 metres vertically from surface and 60 metres below the current pit shell, demonstrating high-grade mineralisation outside the existing conceptual pit boundaries.
The Corsac Fox Hanging Wall zones have revealed a different style of mineralisation compared to the well-known footwall domains. These hanging wall domains are characterised by high-grade vein-style gold and broader envelopes near the northern wall of the conceptual pit. The hanging wall domains show a strong nugget effect compared to the footwall zones, with visible gold frequently observed.
Additional significant results include drill holes PB-25-502 and PB-25-504. PB-25-502 returned a broad intercept of 0.73 g/t Au over 46.8 metres, including a higher-grade interval of 1.86 g/t Au over 9.5 metres. PB-25-504 intersected multiple broad and high-grade intervals, including 18.8 metres grading 1.83 g/t Au from 6.7 metres and 65.0 metres of 1.75 g/t Au from 94.5 metres depth, including 17.4 metres of 3.92 g/t Au.
Implications for Resource Expansion
The drilling results demonstrate clear potential for expanding the Philibert resource beyond the current conceptual pit boundaries. Simon Marcotte, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northern Superior, noted that "Hole PB-25-490 intersected very high grades near surface, outside of the current conceptual pit, and confirms the opportunity for significant resource expansion in this area."
Particularly encouraging is drill hole PB-25-504, which intersected mineralisation right at the contact between the bedrock and overburden, just 4.7 metres vertically from surface. This demonstrates the near-surface potential of the system and supports the viability of open-pit mining operations.
Adree DeLazzer, Vice President of Exploration for Northern Superior, stated that "these new intersections, located north of the Red Fox and Arctic Fox Footwall zones along the northern wall of the conceptual pit, continue to support our strategy of growing near-surface ounces along the 4-5 km Philibert trend. New structural and geochemical data are significantly enhancing our understanding of this large and evolving gold system."
Next Steps and Milestones
Northern Superior is developing a follow-up drilling programme to further investigate the higher-grade near-surface mineralisation as well as at depth to increase the ounces in the resource pit and potentially add an underground component to the resource.
The team continues to investigate the geological model and mineralisation controls using new structural core orientation and geochemical data to further refine the deposit model. This technical work will be critical for optimising future drilling programmes and advancing the project towards feasibility studies.
