Northern Superior Reports Gold Intercept at Hazeur Property Adjacent to Philibert Project

Drilling returns 1.10 g/t Au over 25.5 metres located 350 metres west of Philibert conceptual pit, company expands Chevrier land position by 2,100 hectares.

  • Drill hole HA-16-004 intersected 1.10 g/t Au over 25.5 metres, including 7.28 g/t Au over 1.7 metres, 350 metres west of current Philibert conceptual pit
  • Second hole HA-16-003 returned 0.94 g/t Au over 8.9 metres and 1.49 g/t Au over 1.1 metres, located over 400 metres west of the conceptual pit
  • Red Fox zone mineralization traced for approximately 600 metres west of current Philibert pit based on geological compilation
  • Acquisition of 38 new claims covering 2,100 hectares north of Chevrier Project brings total landholdings to over 70,000 hectares
  • Exploration drilling programme to test western continuation of Red Fox zone scheduled to begin later this month

Northern Superior Resources Inc. (TSXV: SUP) is a gold exploration company focused on the Chibougamau Camp in Quebec, Canada. The company has consolidated a 70,000-hectare land package across multiple properties including Philibert, Hazeur, Lac Surprise, Chevrier, Croteau, Monster Lake East, and Monster Lake West. Northern Superior also owns 56% of ONGold Resources Ltd., which holds exploration assets in Northern Ontario and Manitoba.

The Philibert Project hosts a maiden NI 43-101 inferred resource of 48.46 million tonnes for 1,708,800 ounces at 1.10 g/t Au and an indicated resource of 7.88 million tonnes for 278,900 ounces at 1.10 g/t Au. Northern Superior holds 75% of Philibert with an option to acquire full ownership. Additional resources include Chevrier with 652,000 ounces inferred and 260,000 ounces indicated, and Croteau with 640,000 ounces inferred.

Hazeur Property Exploration and Red Fox Zone Extension

Northern Superior commenced exploration activities on the Hazeur property, located adjacent to its Philibert Project. The company is compiling historical assessment data, re-logging, and re-sampling available core to address gaps in prior work. Drill hole HA-16-004 intersected 25.5 metres at 1.10 g/t Au, including 7.28 g/t Au over 1.7 metres, within silicified and albitized gabbro hosting disseminated pyrite and pyrrhotite.

Drill hole HA-16-003, collared 60 metres farther west and more than 400 metres from the nearest Philibert resource drill holes, intersected the same mineralization style typical of Philibert footwall zones. Results included 0.94 g/t Au over 8.9 metres and 1.49 g/t Au over 1.1 metres. Unsampled intervals remain in mineralized sections and will be addressed in follow-up work.

The geological team has traced what it interprets as the western extension of the Philibert Red Fox mineralized zone for approximately 600 metres west of the current conceptual pit. Beyond the Red Fox extension, compilation work has identified other zones of interest including the 7597 series of shallow historical holes, which encountered near-surface mineralization. The company is finalizing an exploration drilling programme to test the western continuation of the Red Fox footwall zones.

Land Package Expansion and Strategic Consolidation

Northern Superior acquired 38 new map-designated claims covering more than 2,100 hectares contiguous to the north of the Chevrier property. These claims straddle the Chapais Syncline, a sedimentary-volcanic basin overlying the Roy Group. The syncline is cut by the Kapunapotagen Fault Zone, a reverse shear corridor. The area has seen limited systematic exploration to date.

The Chibougamau Gold Camp contains several gold resources that were previously divided amongst five companies. Due to acquisitions and corporate transactions, ownership has been consolidated with IAMGOLD and Northern Superior holding these assets. The camp's resources total multiple millions of ounces across various projects within proximity to each other.

President and CEO Simon Marcotte stated:

"These early Hazeur results demonstrate meaningful gold mineralization immediately west of Philibert, highlighting the potential for resource growth across our expanding land package."

The company is executing a strategy to acquire ground and advance its portfolio in the camp. Reconnaissance work has been initiated, including mapping and collection of 80 surface samples, with results pending.

Multi-Target Exploration Potential and Geological Diversity

The newly acquired land package north of Chevrier contains geological formations that could host various mineral systems. The Hauy and Stella formations, part of the Chapais Syncline, may be prospective for volcanogenic massive sulphide deposits. Faults cutting Opémisca sediments and volcanics provide structural settings for magmatic-hydrothermal Cu-Au veins, similar to the historic Springer and Perry mines at Opémiska.

Carbonaceous sedimentary members intersected by shear zones are considered prospective for orogenic gold systems. The underexplored nature of the ground, combined with these multiple geological settings, characterizes this acquisition. Several showings and mineralization have been identified near the edges of the basin.

Vice President of Exploration Adree DeLazzer stated:

"Our technical team has already identified the western extension of the Red Fox zone over a 600-metre strike length west of the Philibert pit. We are confident this work will generate strong drill targets to expand Philibert and test new ground within the Hazeur and Chevrier projects."

Next Steps and Programme Development

Approximately 90% of the Philibert expansion drilling programme has been completed and reported, with a final tranche of approximately 2,000 metres remaining in progress. Results will be disclosed as assays are received and quality control is finalized. Northern Superior is finalizing an exploration drilling programme designed to test the western continuation of the Red Fox footwall zones at Hazeur, with drilling scheduled to begin later this month. Parallel fieldwork will focus on mapping, prospecting, and targeted sampling in areas of bedrock exposure across the expanded land position.
