Strandline Resources Advances Mineral Sands Projects in Australia and Tanzania

Strandline Resources is advancing a portfolio of high-grade mineral sands projects in Australia & Tanzania to capitalize on strong demand for critical minerals zircon, titanium & rare earths.

  • Strandline Resources is an ASX-listed company focusing on critical minerals, primarily Zircon and titanium, used in various industries like pigments, ceramics, plastics, and paper.
  • The company is an emerging producer of heavy mineral sands, with a significant presence in Western Australia and Tanzania.
  • Strandline's joint venture with the Tanzanian government through Nayati Mineral Sands aims to tap into Tanzania's mineral-rich potential.
  • The company is actively pursuing projects like Fangoni and Tajiri in Tanzania while leveraging its experience from the successful Coburn project in Western Australia.

About Strandline Resources

Strandline Resources is an emerging producer of heavy mineral sands with projects in Western Australia and Tanzania. The company is focused on developing its portfolio of high-grade mineral sand deposits to capitalize on strong demand growth and future supply shortages for critical minerals zircon, titanium and rare earths.

Coburn Project Complete and Ramping Up in Australia

Strandline Resources recently completed the construction of its flagship Coburn mineral sands project in the Gascoyne region of Western Australia. The US$260 million project was built on time and on budget despite challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. Coburn will produce premium zircon and titanium products to meet growing global demand.

Located in a remote part of Western Australia, Coburn has created over 120 local jobs and has a strong focus on safety, diversity and indigenous engagement. The project has an exceptional safety record and has built a great culture founded on Strandline's values. The experienced team and learnings from Coburn will help fast-track Strandline's projects in Tanzania.

Coburn is now in the ramp-up phase and is expected to produce around 50,000 tonnes per annum of zircon, 110,000 tonnes of chloride ilmenite and 23,000 tonnes of rutile over its initial 23-year mine life. Upcoming milestones include the completion of wet concentrator plant performance testing and ramp-up to nameplate capacity in the June 2023 quarter.

Large Mineral Sands Portfolio in Tanzania

Strandline Resources has secured a major land position across four mineral sand projects in Tanzania spanning over 2,100 sq km. These include Fungoni, Tajiri, Bagamoyo and Sulti projects, which host rich deposits of valuable zircon, titanium, ilmenite and rare earth mineral sands.

The assets benefit from high-grade, low-cost, mineralization close to the surface and existing infrastructure like roads, ports and power. This makes them highly attractive development projects.

Fungoni Shovel-Ready Pending Approvals

The Fungoni mineral sands project is shovel-ready, with all feasibility studies and permitting completed. Strandline is fast-tracking Fungoni as its next development project in partnership with the Tanzanian Government under their Nyati Mineral Sands joint venture.

Fungoni is located just 35km from the country's largest city and deep-water port in Dar es Salaam. It contains total mineral resources of 182 million tonnes at 3.3% total heavy minerals, including premium quality zircon.

The project is designed to produce around 33,000 tonnes per annum of zircon products over 14 years. Nyati has paid compensation to affected local communities and is focused on finalizing resettlement activities and securing finance ahead of a Final Investment Decision in 2023.

Tajiri the Next Major Development Project

The flagship Tajiri project is the cornerstone asset in the Nyati portfolio given its large size, exceptional mineral sands grades and proximity to infrastructure. Tajiri has a 23+ year initial mine life and will underpin NAyati's ambition to develop a long-life mineral sands industry in Tanzania.

With Ore Reserves of 204 million tonnes at 3.3% heavy minerals, Tajiri's development concept includes a mineral separation plant located close to the Tanga port. Environmental approvals have been secured, while Nyati is awaiting grant of the Special Mining License which will trigger project development activities.

Positioned to Supply Critical Minerals to World Markets

Strandline Resources is uniquely positioned to capitalize on the strong demand growth outlook as many existing mineral sand mines reach the end of their lives. Its portfolio of advanced projects in Australia and Tanzania will emerge as a major supplier of critical minerals zircon, titanium and rare earths to world markets over the long term.

In summary, Strandline Resources has established a solid platform from which to grow into a significant, global mineral sands producer. It is on track to deliver its next mining projects at Fungoni and Tajiri in Tanzania, leveraging its successful development of the Coburn project in Australia. With an experienced management team, Strandline is set to create jobs and generate revenues for local communities and governments for decades to come.

Reasons to Invest

  • Strong growth industry - Mineral sands are critical raw materials used in everyday products like paint, plastics and ceramics. Demand is rising with urbanization and economic development, especially in emerging markets. Supply is constrained as existing mines deplete, creating a structural supply deficit.
  • High-grade, low-cost assets - Strandline's projects contain high-grade mineral sand deposits that can be mined at low cost due to shallow mineralization and access to infrastructure like roads, power and ports. This should deliver strong profit margins.
  • Near-term production growth - The Coburn project is complete and ramping up production now. Fungoni is shovel-ready pending approvals and could be in production by 2023. This means potential revenue growth in the short term.
  • Long mine life assets - Large resource bases support long +20-year mine lives. This gives multi-decade cash flow visibility from the portfolio.
  • Experienced management - The Strandline team has strong expertise in developing and operating mineral sand projects globally. Their success at Coburn provides confidence for the delivery of the Tanzania projects.
  • Attractive jurisdiction - Tanzania is a stable mining jurisdiction in Africa with existing mineral sand operations. The new government has been re-opening the country for investment.
  • Potential valuation upside - Strandline has re-rated strongly since Coburn's construction but remains undervalued compared to mineral sands peers. Further project milestones could drive re-rating.

Strandline Resources offers investors exposure to the attractive mineral sands thematic, with assets positioned to deliver strong growth in production, cash flow and valuation upside. The near-term catalysts and experienced team help de-risk what shapes as an exciting investment opportunity.
