Amex Exploration Initiates Permitting for Power Line Connection at Perron Gold Project

Company awards construction mandate to Moreau for 6.5-kilometre transmission line linking project to Hydro-Québec grid.

  • Amex Exploration awarded mandate to Moreau for construction of 25-kilovolt power line connecting Normétal substation to Perron Project over 6.5-kilometre distance
  • Power line will provide industrial-standard electricity supply to replace diesel generators currently required for operations
  • Infrastructure will support planned bulk sampling activities and Phase 1 toll-milling operations under feasibility evaluation
  • Power line commissioning targeted for third quarter 2026, subject to regulatory permit receipt
  • Connection provides access to Hydro-Québec's hydroelectric grid for project power requirements

Amex Exploration Inc. (TSXV: AMX) is a Canadian-based mineral exploration company with high-grade gold discoveries and copper-rich volcanogenic massive sulphide zones at its 100%-owned Perron Gold Project. The project is located 110 kilometres north of Rouyn-Noranda, Quebec, and consists of 183 contiguous claims covering 65.75 square kilometres. Combined with adjacent properties, the company's land package totals 501.08 square kilometres. The project is accessible by year-round road, located 30 minutes from an airport, and approximately 6.5 kilometres from the Town of Normétal.

Mandate Awarded to Moreau for Construction of 25kV Medium-Voltage Power Line Connecting Normétal Substation to Perron Project Over 6.5 km Distance

Amex has contracted Moreau, an Abitibi-based electrical infrastructure contractor, to conduct preparatory work and support regulatory processes for constructing a dedicated power line to the Perron Project in Valcanton. The scope covers planning, engineering, and permitting activities for a 25-kilovolt medium-voltage line spanning approximately 6.5 kilometres between Hydro-Québec's Normétal substation and the project site.

The power line will provide industrial-standard electricity capacity designed to meet the requirements of bulk sampling activities and projected Phase 1 operations under a toll-milling scenario currently in feasibility study. Moreau will handle the technical planning and regulatory submission processes required before construction can proceed.

The infrastructure development forms part of the company's preparation for transitioning the project from exploration activities to potential production scenarios. The power line represents permanent electrical infrastructure rather than temporary generation solutions.

Direct Connection to Hydro-Québec Grid to Enable Renewable Low-Carbon Energy Supply and Reduce Diesel Dependence

The Hydro-Québec grid connection will provide the Perron Project with access to hydroelectric power, replacing the diesel generators typically used at remote exploration and mining sites. Quebec's electrical grid is predominantly hydroelectric, resulting in lower carbon emissions compared to fossil fuel generation.

President and CEO Victor Cantore stated:

"Direct connection to Hydro-Québec's grid is expected to be an important contributor to the technical and economic parameters being evaluated in the ongoing Phase 1 feasibility work. Establishing permanent grid power early enhances cost visibility, operating reliability and overall project robustness."

The transition from diesel to grid power will eliminate on-site fuel storage and handling requirements. Grid electricity provides established utility pricing structures, while diesel costs fluctuate with global commodity markets. The company states the energy integration will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and lower fuel-handling risks associated with on-site diesel storage.

Power Line Commissioning Anticipated in Q3 2026 Subject to Permit Receipt to Support Bulk Sampling and Phase 1 Toll-Milling Operations

Amex is targeting third quarter 2026 for power line commissioning, pending receipt of required permits. This timeline corresponds with the company's schedule for bulk sampling and feasibility work on Phase 1 toll-milling operations. Bulk sampling involves extracting and processing ore samples to validate metallurgical assumptions and production parameters.

The Phase 1 feasibility study examines a toll-milling scenario, which involves processing Perron ore at an existing third-party mill rather than building dedicated processing facilities. The grid power connection will support on-site ore preparation and handling activities associated with this operational model.

The commissioning timeline depends on completion of regulatory permitting processes, which include environmental assessments and required approvals. Construction activities will proceed following permit receipt, with Moreau managing the technical execution of the power line installation.

Outlook And Next Steps

The company continues work on infrastructure development at the Perron Project. Current priorities include completing regulatory permitting for the power line, finalising engineering specifications with Moreau, and coordinating construction timelines with bulk sampling preparations. The Q3 2026 target for power line commissioning aligns with the company's broader project development schedule and feasibility study timeline.
