Aurion Resources Ltd. (TSX-V: AU) (OTCQX: AIRRF) is a Canadian exploration company focused on precious metals opportunities in Finland. The company advances early-stage exploration projects through direct exploration and partnership arrangements, including joint ventures with B2Gold Corp., Kinross Gold, and KoBold Metals.
Aurion's exploration activities centre on its wholly owned Risti property and joint venture properties in Finland's Central Lapland Greenstone Belt. The company's business model combines direct exploration activities with strategic partnerships to advance multiple projects across the region's established mining jurisdiction.
Drill Results at Vanha Prospect
The recent drilling programme at Kaaresselkä targeted structural features to identify extensions of the gold mineralised system. Drill hole KS25111 returned the programme's most significant intercept of 4.42 g/t gold over 32.55 metres from 267.80 metres depth, with a higher-grade zone of 72.80 g/t gold over 1.00 metre within this interval. The same hole intersected a second zone of 4.29 g/t gold over 4.45 metres at greater depth.
Additional drilling confirmed gold mineralisation at various depths and locations within the prospect area. Drill hole KS25108 intersected 4.69 g/t gold over 3.00 metres from 68.75 metres depth, including 13.70 g/t gold over 1.00 metre. This intercept is positioned 90 metres above a previously announced intercept of 7.92 g/t gold over 13.60 metres from hole KS25097.
Initial metallurgical testing on two samples from Vanha demonstrated gold recoveries exceeding 93.6% using bottle roll leaching tests. The mineralisation occurs within deformed and altered mafic volcanic and metasedimentary rocks containing sulphide minerals including pyrite, pyrrhotite, chalcopyrite, galena, sphalerite and arsenopyrite. Higher-grade intervals are hosted within silicified and brecciated zones.
Geological Framework
The ten-hole drilling programme extended the known mineralised system by 100 metres along strike to a total length of 1,050 metres. The system extends to 250 metres vertical depth and remains open in multiple directions. All holes intersected zones of deformed and hydrothermally altered rocks associated with gold mineralisation throughout the target area.
The Kaaresselkä area is located 15 kilometres east of the Vuoma discovery along a structural corridor that extends over 25 kilometres within Aurion's property holdings. The geological setting and mineralisation style at Kaaresselkä are similar to regional discoveries including Helmi and Ikkari, as well as the former Saattopora mine. Scout drilling has previously identified gold mineralisation 1.8 kilometres west and 600 metres east of the Vanha prospect.
Several drill holes returned elevated levels of base metals and platinum-palladium values alongside gold mineralisation. The mineralised zones occur within highly deformed rocks along structural controls that have been traced across the broader property area. The geological team has identified the structural corridor as a priority target for continued exploration activities.
Ongoing Programme and Results Pipeline
The current drilling programme continues to target extensions of the mineralised system at Kaaresselkä, with additional holes designed to test both along-strike and depth extensions. The company reports that further results from completed drilling remain pending, with exploration activities continuing across the target area.
Ten holes totalling 2,031.60 metres have been completed at the Vanha prospect as part of the current programme. The drilling targets interpreted structural features based on geological mapping and previous drill results. Quality assurance protocols include certified standards and blanks inserted every 10 samples, with analytical work completed at ISO-compliant ALS facilities.
CEO Matti Talikka stated:
"The intercept of 4.42 g/t Au over 32.55 m provides meaningful information on the potential for scale and growth of the mineral endowment at Kaaresselkä."
The company continues drilling to test potential extensions of the mineralised system, with results expected to further define the scope of mineralisation at the prospect.
Project Development Timeline
Aurion's immediate focus involves completing the current drilling programme at Kaaresselkä and releasing pending assay results from completed holes. The company plans continued drilling to test extensions of the Vanha mineralised system both along strike and at depth, with priority targets identified along the broader structural corridor.
Future work programmes will be guided by ongoing drill results and geological interpretation of the expanding database. The company's exploration activities span multiple properties within Finland's Central Lapland Greenstone Belt, with the Kaaresselkä discovery representing one component of a broader exploration portfolio that includes joint venture agreements with established mining companies.
