Crux Investor at The Mining Event of the North, Quebec 2025

Crux Investor covers 20 CEO interviews at Quebec’s top mining event—funding trends, JV models, and rising scores all in focus.

Interviews now live: Watch here

We’re already on the ground in Quebec City, and The Mining Event of the North 2025 is well underway.

As we pass the halfway mark in our interview schedule — with around 40% of videos and write-ups already live — a few clear themes are beginning to emerge from the floor. The funding conversation is back, but with nuance:

  • Near-term revenue and advanced development stories are drawing strong interest from capital allocators.
  • Meanwhile, early-stage explorers are getting attention - if they’re smart about how they raise (and will spend) money
  • That’s leading to a surge in JV activity and project generator models  - strategic partnerships that allow explorers to fund growth without over-diluting their capital structure.

This is a conference focused not just on geology, but on how companies survive and scale in difficult markets. And with several of our interviewees having just released news on financings, asset acquisitions, or divestitures, we’ll be watching closely to see if some Crux Scores deserve an upgrade.

Who We’re Speaking With

Crux Investor is conducting 20 CEO interviews at this year’s event. Our coverage spans gold, silver, uranium, nickel, and copper — and includes both familiar names and first-time features.

Our company mix:

  • 12 Explorers – including ATHA Energy, Power Metallic, New Found Gold and Amex Exploration
  • 6 Developers – such as Magna Mining, NorthIsle Copper & Gold, and First Mining Gold
  • 1 ProducerAndean Precious Metals, with assets in Bolivia
  • 1 Royalty company – the well-followed OR Royalties (previous Osisko Gold Royalties)

These companies reflect a clear shift: many are focused on assets in Canada, but we’re also covering stories from South America and other emerging regions. And despite a tough market, many of them are making strategic moves — locking in capital, streamlining portfolios, or bringing in partners to move projects forward.

What the Crux Scores Tell Us

Our interviews are informed by the Crux Investor Index (CII) — a data-driven scoring system (out of 10) that assesses companies on jurisdiction, financial strength, team, execution, and shareholder value.

Here’s how the Quebec 2025 group stacks up:

  • Average Crux Score: 6.7
  • Top Performers (8/10):
    • ATHA Energy
    • Magna Mining
    • Power Metallic
  • Strong Performers (7/10):
    • Andean Precious Metals
    • Amex Exploration
    • OR Royalties
    • First Mining Gold
    • NorthIsle Copper & Gold

These scores are not “buy” or “sell” signals — but they do indicate where we see strength, risk, and opportunity. Some of these may shift post-event as we dig deeper with management on strategy, funding, and asset value.

What We’re Watching

Across all interviews, our goal is to surface clarity on critical investor questions:

  • Are juniors still raising capital, and under what terms?
  • Who’s adopting the project generator model, and does it reduce shareholder risk? Which companies are streamlining their asset base to focus spend and simplify message.
  • Are we seeing strategic consolidation or early signs of M&A in critical minerals?
  • How are royalty firms and advanced developers adapting their models in 2025?

These aren’t just soundbites — they’re the questions investors want answered, and we’re putting them directly to the people making the decisions.
