Advancement of Churchrock-Crownpoint Groundwater Discharge Permit to Public Notice Phase
NMED has moved Laramide's discharge permit application into the public notice phase, a stage in the state's permitting process that opens the application to formal public participation. NMED has provided Laramide with the public notice package and instructions required to begin public notification and stakeholder engagement activities.
The permit application supports development of an ISR uranium recovery operation at Churchrock Section 8. ISR involves circulating a groundwater-based solution, known as a lixiviant, through the underground ore zone to recover uranium, and the application includes authorization for use of this method.
Engagement with NMED, local communities, Tribal governments, and other stakeholders will continue throughout the public participation process that follows the public notice stage.
Continued Regulatory Progress Supporting ISR Uranium Project Development
The Churchrock-Crownpoint project is located in McKinley County, New Mexico, and comprises the Churchrock and Crownpoint uranium deposits, which together contain a significant uranium resource. The project holds an existing Nuclear Regulatory Commission license and continues to advance through both federal and state permitting processes.

Churchrock-Crownpoint is designated a FAST-41 Covered Project under the US Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council framework. This designation applies to infrastructure projects considered to have national or economic significance and is intended to support coordinated oversight across the federal agencies involved in a project's permitting.
This status reflects the project's potential strategic importance to the domestic nuclear fuel supply chain, and supports the company's objective of positioning Churchrock-Crownpoint as a future source of domestically produced uranium.
The FAST-41 designation applies in addition to the project's existing Nuclear Regulatory Commission license, and both remain part of the overall federal and state permitting framework the project is advancing through.
