Kodiak Copper Advances 2026 Drill Program and Identifies New Geophysical Target Near South Deposit

Kodiak Copper Corp. has completed 6,348 metres of drilling at its Ketchan and West deposits and identified a large untested geophysical anomaly beside the South deposit at its MPD project in British Columbia.

  • Two drill rigs are active at the MPD project, with 6,348 metres completed in 32 core holes toward a planned 16,500 metre program running into the fourth quarter of 2026.
  • Drilling at the Ketchan deposit has reached 5,301 metres in 26 holes, while 1,047 metres in six holes have been completed at the West deposit.
  • A geophysical survey has outlined a chargeability anomaly extending more than 900 metres next to the South deposit, in an area with limited prior exploration.
  • The new anomaly resembles the one associated with the South deposit and is separated from it by a feature interpreted as a fault, suggesting it may represent a displaced extension of the same system.
  • First assay results from the 2026 program are expected within a month, with an updated resource estimate planned for the first quarter of 2027.

Kodiak Copper Corp. (TSX-V: KDK, OTCQX: KDKCF, Frankfurt: 5DD1) is a Canada-based exploration company advancing copper porphyry projects in Canada and the United States. Its principal asset is the wholly owned MPD copper-gold project in south-central British Columbia, located within the Quesnel Terrane, an established mining region with existing infrastructure. A 2025 resource estimate defined seven deposits at MPD, all open to further expansion, alongside additional targets yet to be drill tested. The company also holds the Mohave copper-molybdenum-silver project in Arizona, near the Bagdad mine. Kodiak was founded by Chris Taylor, previously associated with Great Bear Resources, and is part of Discovery Group, led by John Robins.

2026 Drill Program Advancing on Schedule With 6,348 Metres Completed Across Ketchan and West Deposits

Kodiak's 2026 program at MPD is progressing on schedule, with two diamond drill rigs operating concurrently. Combined drilling stands at 6,348 metres across 32 holes, part of a total planned program of 16,500 metres expected to continue into the fourth quarter.

Most of this year's metreage has been directed at the Ketchan deposit, where drilling has reached 5,301 metres across 26 holes. The company has described Ketchan as having significant potential for expansion.

A smaller portion of the program, 1,047 metres in six holes, has been drilled at the West deposit, which hosts near surface, high grade mineralisation. Results from both deposits will contribute to Kodiak's broader resource growth objectives for the year.

New Large 3D-IP Chargeability Anomaly Identified Adjacent to South Deposit as Potential Fault-Displaced Extension

A recently completed 3D Induced Polarization (3D-IP) survey has identified a new exploration target east of the South deposit, in ground with limited historical work. The technique measures how strongly underground rock responds to an electrical charge, with stronger responses, or chargeability, often associated with sulphide minerals linked to copper mineralisation. The newly identified anomaly extends for more than 900 metres.

The anomaly is similar to the chargeability signature already associated with the South deposit. The two are separated by a magnetic low feature interpreted to be a fault, a geological break that can shift rock formations. Based on the available data, the new anomaly may represent a fault-displaced extension of the South deposit's porphyry system, though this has not yet been confirmed by drilling.

Kodiak has scheduled the target for drill testing in 2026.

President and CEO Claudia Tornquist said:

"The newly identified 3D-IP anomaly is particularly exciting, as it represents a large geophysical target that could indicate an extension of the South deposit. The significant scale of the anomaly exemplifies the opportunity to further expand mineralization and highlights the considerable exploration upside at MPD. We look forward to drilling this compelling target this year alongside several other priority targets for resource growth and new discovery."

First 2026 Assay Results Expected Within One Month With Updated MRE Planned for Q1 2027

The first assay results from the 2026 drill program are expected within a month, with further results to be released through the autumn and winter as additional holes are completed and processed. Assays are laboratory tests that confirm the metal content of drill core.

Kodiak's 2026 program is aimed at expanding the initial mineral resource estimate published in 2025, which outlined seven deposits at MPD, all currently open to expansion. An updated mineral resource estimate incorporating this year's results is planned for the first quarter of 2027.

Beyond the deposits currently being drilled, Kodiak has identified 36 prospective targets across the broader MPD property. Several of these are scheduled for drill testing in 2026 as part of the company's exploration program.

Milestones and Next Steps

Kodiak's 2026 drill program has passed the 6,300 metre mark, with two rigs still active toward the full 16,500 metre target for the year. The first assay results from the current Ketchan and West drilling are expected within a month. Later in 2026, drilling is planned to test the newly identified geophysical target beside the South deposit. An updated mineral resource estimate incorporating this year's results is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.
