West Red Lake Gold Mines Identifies New Targets at Madsen Property Demonstrating Significant Exploration Potential

West Red Lake Gold Mines uncovers 6 promising new gold targets at its Madsen Property in the prolific Red Lake gold district in Canada.

  • Six new geochemical anomalies analogous to Madsen-style mineralization were identified in previously underexplored Confederation Assemblage rocks.
  • The most compelling new target is the North Shore anomaly, located near high-potential Russet Lake Ultramafic rocks, which will be a top drill target in 2025.
  • 1,460 till samples, 42 channel samples, and detailed geological mapping significantly enhanced the company's understanding of the Confederation Assemblage.
  • The anomalies demonstrate an Au-W-As-Ag-Bi signature consistent with Madsen-style gold mineralization common in the Red Lake district.
  • Follow-up prospecting, mapping, and potential drilling is planned in 2025 to further evaluate these newly defined areas of interest.

West Red Lake Gold Mines is a mineral exploration company focused on advancing its flagship Madsen Gold Mine and associated land package in the prolific Red Lake Gold District of Ontario, Canada. The Red Lake district has yielded over 30 million ounces of gold from high-grade zones, hosting some of the world's richest gold deposits. In addition to the Madsen property, West Red Lake Gold also holds the wholly owned 31 km2 Rowan property which includes three past producing gold mines.

Madsen Property Exploration Highlights

The 2024 exploration program at Madsen focused on the underexplored Confederation Assemblage rocks. This assemblage is known to host significant gold mineralization in the district, including at Kinross Gold's Great Bear Project located 24km to the southeast. West Red Lake Gold Mine's Vice President of Exploration, Will Robinson, expressed optimism about the 2024 program results, stating:

"The program was successful in delineating a number of high-caliber geochemical anomalies that will warrant follow-up exploration work and possibly drilling in 2025. The grade and tenor of the surface anomalies defined within the Confederation rocks and their spatial association with the underlying geology is very encouraging and further reinforces our thesis that this mostly overlooked part of the property still presents excellent potential for discovery."

West Red Lake's program consisted of 1,460 till samples, 42 channel samples, and 69 representative lithologic samples to support detailed geological mapping. This work defined six anomalous areas characterized by an Au-W-As-Ag-Bi geochemical signature that is analogous to Madsen-style mineralization common throughout the Red Lake district.

The most compelling new target generated is the North Shore anomaly. Limited 2024 drilling at North Shore intercepted broad zones of Madsen-style alteration and veining with low gold values along the eastern margin of the Venus ultramafic unit. However, the new till data suggests the core of the gold system may be located further east, closer to the Russet Lake Ultramafic.

Discussing the North Shore target, Robinson explained:

"The anomaly is defined by a robust Au-W-As-Ag-Bi signature, which is very encouraging as this is the primary geochemical signature associated with gold mineralization at Madsen and elsewhere within the Red Lake district. This spatial association fits well with other known deposits and occurrences along the RLUMAF including Wedge-MJ, Fork and the newly discovered Upper 8 Zone."

The area beneath the strongest part of this anomaly remains undrilled and will be a top target for West Red Lake Gold in 2025.  Other areas of interest generated by the 2024 program that warrant follow-up include:

  • Faulkenham Southwest and Southeast targets: Detailed prospecting is planned to locate potential vein exposures, especially in the southwest area where strong Au-W till anomalies occur down-ice from the historical Faulkenham Shaft.
  • Killoran target: High resolution mapping, prospecting, and potential channel sampling is planned for 2025 to investigate this newly defined anomaly on the west shore of Killoran Lake.
  • High Lake and Faulkenham North anomalies: Both are spatially associated with known auriferous quartz veins and may indicate strike extensions of these systems. Follow-up work is planned to identify new vein exposures.

Ongoing Exploration Plans

WRLG intends to conduct follow-up prospecting, mapping, and sampling at the various targets defined by the 2024 program. Particular focus will be given to the highly prospective North Shore anomaly, with the goal of refining drill targets for 2025. Infill till sampling is also planned for the Faulkenham area to better delineate anomalies.

The strong geochemical signature of the anomalies, their favorable geological setting, and spatial association with both known gold occurrences and underexplored high-potential environments bodes well for ongoing exploration at Madsen. The results highlight the remaining discovery potential of the Confederation Assemblage rocks, which have seen far less historical work compared to other domains on the property.

For Investors

For investors, the 2024 results provide further evidence that West Red Lake Gold Madsen property has the potential to host additional gold deposits beyond those historically mined. The company's disciplined, systematic approach to exploring these prospective but under-explored environments continues to generate robust targets for follow-up, highlighting the potential for ongoing resource growth. With a dominant land position in a world-class gold district, a substantial high-grade resource base, and a track record of exploration success, West Red Lake Gold Mines remains well positioned to create value through the drill bit.
