Dune Oil Names 2 Engineering Advisors to Plan the C-1 and C-2 Re-Entries at M47
Dune Oil appoints 2 technical advisors with fractured carbonate experience to plan potential re-entry and completion of its C-1 and C-2 wells on Block M47.
Dune Oil has appointed Allan Albertson, P.Eng., and Dean Casorso, MBA, CET, as technical advisors for potential well re-entry, completion, and production operations on its M47 oil exploration block in southeastern Türkiye. Their initial focus is the technical evaluation and planning of potential re-entry and completion programs for the Çetinkaya-1 (C-1) and Çetinkaya-2 (C-2) wells. The advisors bring experience in petroleum engineering, drilling, well completions, reservoir evaluation, and oilfield operations relevant to the fractured carbonate reservoirs on the block.
Company Overview
Dune Oil Corp. (CSE: DUNE | OTCQB: DUNXF | FSE: Z62), formerly Trillion Energy International Inc., is a Canadian oil exploration company focused on Türkiye. It holds a 29% working interest in the M47 oil exploration block, covering the C3 and C4 licenses, in the Cudi-Gabar petroleum province of southeastern Türkiye, an onshore oil-producing region.
Planning the C-1 & C-2 Well Programs
The advisory work centers on the 2 existing wells. The C-1 well, drilled in 2025, encountered light crude oil with a gravity of 32.4° API, a scale on which higher readings indicate lighter oil. Previous drilling operations encountered lost circulation, where drilling fluid escapes into the rock, a technical challenge in drilling and completing naturally fractured carbonate formations.
The advisors will assess well conditions, review available drilling and geological information, and evaluate drilling and completion methods. Their recommendations are intended to preserve reservoir productivity while managing operational risks and costs. The initial technical priorities are expected to include:
- Well re-entry planning, reviewing the C-1 and C-2 wellbores and potential re-entry, deepening, and completion options.
- Reservoir protection, evaluating strategies for drilling fluid, lost circulation, and completion that limit formation damage.
- Production evaluation, assessing well-testing, stimulation, and production strategies to characterize reservoir performance and potential commercial deliverability.
- Operational planning, supporting practical well programs, contractor evaluations, operating procedures, and preliminary cost estimates.
The recommendations will support Dune Oil's evaluation of potential well operations and future development planning, in coordination with its local operating partners.
Petroleum Engineering & Drilling Experience
Technical advisor to Dune Oil, Allan Albertson, P.Eng., brings 34 years of international petroleum engineering and operational experience covering drilling, completions, production engineering, reservoir characterization, and field development. He has directly managed drilling, completion, and well operations in more than 20 countries, including Turkey, and has worked in the Zagros Basin. His projects include fractured carbonates, unconventional reservoirs, stimulation programs, and horizontal well completions, and his Bachelor of Science in Petroleum Engineering is from Montana Tech.
President of Fire Creek Resources Ltd., Dean Casorso, MBA, CET, brings nearly 30 years of oil and gas experience in drilling and completion operations, project execution, corporate management, and international petroleum development. Fire Creek Resources is a Calgary-based private producing company. He spent almost 2 decades with TotalEnergies managing drilling, completion, and well operations in Canada. He previously served as Chief Operating Officer of a TSX Venture Exchange-listed oil and gas company and as Vice President of International Operations for a private exploration and production company active in Southeast Asia.
